Hodgson Sealants is proud to continue helping local girls achieve through sport with a donation of £1,000 to the Donna Nickolay Foundation.
Donna was a goalkeeper for Hull City Ladies, playing for her hometown club for several years. She sadly passed away in 2019, aged just 28.
In her memory, her parents Mark and Wendy set up the foundation, with a mission to empower women to pursue their passion for football – whether as players, coaches, officials or in other roles.
Mark said: “We’re very grateful to Hodgson Sealants for their support.
“Our aim is to help as many local girls as we can in Donna’s name and donations like this make a huge difference.
“Sometimes you have to try to turn a negative into a positive and if we can do a little bit to help young girls on their journey, then that’s all we can ask for.”
The Donna Nickolay Foundation is a charity close to our hearts here at Hodgson Sealants.
Donna is the niece of our National Sales Manager, Kevin Nickolay, and the Foundation has become a cause we’re proud to keep backing, having previously supported a fundraising football tournament held in Donna’s memory in 2024, which raised £3,000.
What our latest donation will be used for
The donation was approved through Hodgson Sealants’ internal charity process, the HOPE committee, which reviews applications from local good causes.
No specific figure was requested by the foundation – simply that any support would be gratefully received – and the board agreed on £1,000 in recognition of their work.
It will now be used to contribute towards projects for Hull City Ladies and Elloughton Blackburn Ladies FC.
Mark added: “We work closely with the coaches at Hull City Ladies’ academy, who will often come to us when they’ve identified a promising young player who might be lost to the game due to finances.
“It could be one, or it could be twenty young girls – above the age of ten – who’ve got talent, but for one reason or another can’t afford to play. We can make a donation to cover some of the costs – subs, kit, boots or travel – to help keep them in the sport.
“Some of this money will go towards those young players and some will be donated to Elloughton Blackburn who are looking to fund a block of specialist coaching with an FA-trained goalkeeping coach over the summer holidays.
“It’s a fitting project given Donna was also a goalkeeper and girls of all ages will benefit. The club has been fundraising themselves to pay for the coaching and we’re happy to be able to make a contribution too.”
