Hand-applied bedding compound.
For bedding in to single or composite metal frames and other non-porous surfaces and for joining steel assemblies.
Application temperature range: +5°C to +30°C Shelf life: 3 months when stored in original containers in cool, dry conditions. Skinning time: Skin forms after approximately 3 – 7 days, dependent on thickness, ambient temperature and humidity. Working time: Approximately 4 hours.
Remove all dust, grease and loose material from the rebate. Any moisture on the steel should be wiped off using a clean paper towel or other absorbent material to give a dry surface. Porous surfaces should be sealed with an appropriate sealer prior to application of bedding compound. To assist durability, the minimum joint width should be at least 3mm with a depth of 20 – 25mm.
Maximum joint width should not exceed 8mm otherwise there is a risk of slump or exudation of oil. Tooling: Tool immediately after sealant has been applied before the material forms a skin. The material is primarily intended for bedding joints in steel frames / assemblies such that the majority of the compound is left unexposed. Overpainting of exposed areas, especially in butt joints, will assist in extending the service life of the material.
